AS 1.000 REGRAS DA PRONÚNCIA DO INGLÊS ENSINADAS EM TODO O BRASIL
Numa aula de inglês instrumental, em Recife, o aluno Alberto notou que seu professor, João, chamou PREMIUM, de pré-miam e não o correto prí-miam conforme o som i de pizza de E no Sistema AEIOU + CONS 1 + E/I + VOG, como em HELIUM, SERIES, DIPHTERIA e CHAMELEON. Ana, de Campinas, corrigiu a colega de turma, quando ela chamou PEAR ( pera ) de pir. Desconhecia as exceções do Grupo EA. PEAR soa per, com o R do interior de SP. Carlos, de Florianópolis, tirou 9 na prova oral. Não tirou 10 porque esquecera a regra que diz que na combinação I + CONS 1 + EN, a vogal I soa i de idem, como em THRIVEN e DRIVEN. Logo, RISEN deveria ser dita rízen e não raizen. Jonas, de Maceió, batendo papo com um mórmom americano, fez uma pegadinha com o missionário James perguntando a ele como se deve falar a palavra TRACHEAE ( traqueias ). Mesmo alheio às Regras Fonológicas Inglesas, porque elas foram sistematizadas no Brasil, James pronunciou trei-ki-ai e ainda disse que trei-ki-i também é correto. O mórmom acertou o som desse vocábulo por ser muito falado em público. Mas errou a pronúncia da palavra greco-latina INDICT ( indiciar ), chamando-a de in-dikt, quando o certo é chamá-la de in-dait, por ser uma exceção do Sistema A E I O U + CONS 2 ( não R ), em que I soa i de idade, como em TRICK, LIST e INDUSTRY. Tomás, de Cuiabá, falando em inglês com um colega de classe, viu que Pedro chamou SWAMP ( pântano ) de suémp. Claro que Pedro não sabia que o Grupo WA soa uó, como em SWAMP e WATCH, além de WAS e SWAT. A vogal A de SWAMP está no Sistema A E I O U + CONS 2 ( não R ) e deveria soar ae ( entre a e e ) em SWAMP, como em MATCH, FAST e AND, mas o som do Grupo Fonológico WA não permite. Em uma conferência internacional, o palestrante, ao ler o texto , defendendo sua tese, cometeu uma gafe ao falar CONTIGUITY ( contiguidade ) kan-tí-guiti. Como o doutor não tinha o livro com as Regras de Pronúncia, não via o Grupo Final UITY de som íu-i-ti e ú-i-ti, com a sílaba tônica incidindo em U a exemplo de EXIGUITY, CONTINUITY e ANNUITY. Nessa auditório, outro orador brasileiro errou o som de ENVIRONMENTAL ( ambiental ) pondo a sílaba tônica em VI de som vai. O certo seria VI com som vai átono e E tônico do Grupo ENTAL, como em PLACENTAL, ELEMENTAL e CONTINENTAL. Grupo ENTAL contraria o Sistema de proparoxítonos, com a terminação VOG 1 + CONS 1 em vocábulos acima de 2 sílabas, como em ANIMAL, DIALYSIS e PYRAMID. O prof. Fernando abriu um curso de Pronúncia do Inglês, em Natal, um sucesso. Chegou a matricular mais de 100 alunos. Dividiu-os em turmas conforme a formação de cada um. Numa classe de graduados, aplicando uma prova valendo 100 pontos, Fernando verificou que as notas foram altas demais pelo fato de que a prova era para alunos de grau médio. Nesse Teste, todos acertaram FLOOR ( flor ) e FLOOD ( flâd ) , exceções de OO, que, por regra, soa u, como em BOOK, MOON e SOOTHE. Acertaram também o som de BROAD ( bród ) e SEW ( sou ), exceções dos Grupos OA e EW, que, por regra, OA soa ou, como em ROAD, GOAT e FOAM e EW, por regra soa iu como em FEW, NEW e SEWAGE. Numa prova oral de um curso de Letras no Rio, um texto com 2 mil palavras não repetidas foi projetado numa tela. Ao final, apenas 1 dos 30 alunos do último período pronunciou todas as palavras corretamente. Justo aquele que decorou o livro com todas as 1.000 Regras da Fonologia Inglesa. Foi aplaudido de pé quando pronunciou EXTEMPORANEITY ( extemporaneidade ) iks-tem-po-re-ní-i-ti e ainda explicou que a sílaba tônica incidia em E do Grupo Final EITY de SPONTANEITY, DEITY e HOMOGENEITY.
